Cozy Cable Mitts

Here's the pattern for a pair of fingerless gloves that I designed and knit for Dax Alpaca to sell at The Alpaca Shop in Friday Harbor, WA. Enjoy!

Yarn: 1 skein Dax Alpaca (100% dk weight baby alpaca) or 125 yards of other DK weight yarn

Size: Women's small/medium(medium/large)

Needles: U.S. size 3, 32" circular(magic loop method) or dpns

Gauge: 8 sts per inch in cable pattern (in the round)

Cable Pattern:
R1-R5: *k4, p2* around
R6: *c4b, p2*
repeat rounds 1-6

Cast on 42(48) sts. Place 22(24) sts on one half of circular needle and 20(24) sts on the other. If using dpns, divide on 3 needles with 14(16) sts on each. Join and begin Cable Pattern, knitting until 4-3/4"(5") from cast on edge, ending on an even round. Turn work and begin knitting back and forth, continuing in Cable Pattern(editing ks and ps for odd rounds) until thumb opening measures 1-1/2." Rejoin work and continue in pattern until piece measures 7"(7-1/4") from cast on edge. Bind off very loosely and weave in ends. Make second glove the same as the first.
